50 years ago, two lovebirds joined hands, exchanged vows, and sealed the deal with a kiss, standing in the beautiful, historic sanctuary of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Washington, IL. The ceremony was simple, and the reception--held in the basement of the church-- included a scrumptious white wedding cake, sweet butter mints, and mixed nuts. Little did these two know then, but their union would lead to three, absolutely stunning, gorgeous, and talented children. The parents would quickly be dubbed Parents of the Worlds Greatest Kids or simply, POTWGK by both national and international presses. These sweet parents would also live to see each of their worlds greatest kids find their own kind of families, and watch those families grow to include seven grandkids, five granddogs, and four grandkitties. From wild vacations to far away places like Six Flags (compliments of worlds greatest kid, Jon, who secured a family pass to the park through his masterful use of Crayola brand crayons by winning a highly contested coloring contest) to trips to luxurious Baraboo, WI, where the family was known for their expert inflatable rafting skills and the donning of clever, yet highly fashionable eye wear, this family has seen and done it all. One thing is for certain: that one kiss led to a lifetime of precious memories, ample laughs, some tears, a lot of faith, and, most importantly, a legacy they both can look upon with pride. All kidding aside, Mom and Dad, each of us are eternally grateful to you for your love, support, guidance, and belief in us. We are all blessed beyond words by parents who understand the true meaning of love: -- Love is unconditional -- Love is forgiving -- Love is patient -- Love is laughter -- Love is listening, not hearing -- Love is generous -- Love is unfailing -- Love is what makes life worth living -- Love is faithful and faith-filled Thanks for sealing that deal all those years ago, and for continuing to be such an influential relationship model for all of us.
