500cc formula 3 at Zandvoort 2014 The 500s began in 1946 as a way for impecunious enthusiasts to go motor racing using 500 cc motorbike engines instead of the larger capacity engines that prevailed prior to the war. The idea caught on and was adopted as a new Formula 3 in 1950. Well known names raced in 500s including Stirling Moss, Ken Tyrrell, Ivor Bueb, Jim Russell, Les Leston, Peter Collins, Don Parker, Stuart Lewis-Evans and Bernie Ecclestone! Single cilinder fourstroke DOHC engines, mainly JAP 4b and Norton Manx in these tiny formula cars, man its great that people still race them. This short, features the appearance of the 500cc f3 at the 3rd edition of the historic grand prix Zandvoort. Over the weekend 1 qualifying and 2 races all of 15 minutes.
