50th ANNIVERSARY OF MARCH ON WASHINGTON, Today marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, when tens of thousands of demonstrators converged on the Lincoln Memorial to demand job equality, civil rights and integrated schools. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And other civil rights leaders met with President John F. Kennedy at the White House, and afterward. King delivered what became his most famous speech " I have a dream," he told the crowd, " that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
