52-thousand immigrant children, many of them unaccompanied, caught crossing the border since Oct. Comments focus on the costs to house/educate/process them. I want other answers! How bad is life at home if mothers allow their children on this kind of dangerous undertaking? What kind of horrors must these kids encounter on their journeys? Who protects the little ones from the older ones in the processing facilities? How will their families know where theyve been relocated? Where is our compassion? Our responsibility to protect children, even if theyre not our own?
