56 lakh rupees stolen from SBH ATMs, replaced with fake currency. The Jeedimetla police on Friday arrested five workers of an ATM cash management firm for feeding the machines with fake currency. Police seized the notes purported to be worth Rs 10.68 lakh and two vehicles, from them. Three others are absconding. According to the police, Samson Rogers (40), territory operations manager at CMS Info Systems at Suri Towers on Lower Tank Bund Road and resident of Omega Alekhya Residency near ECIL lodged a police complaint on July 26 that the accused had committed the fraud. The arrested are Siddareddy Satyanarayana (27), custodian at CMS Info Systems and resident of Papireddynagar in Jagadgirigutta; Inturi Srinivas Reddy (38), wood businessman and resident of Papireddynagar in Jagadgirigutta; Sunkara Anjaneyulu (50), water supplier of Laxmipuram in Dwaraka Tirumala mandal in West Godavari district; Katta Bobanna (46), realtor and resident of Narasaiah Agraharam in Bhimavaram in West Godavari district; and Bharat Kuamar (25), employee of CMS Info Systems and resident of Begumpet.The absconding persons are Raju, resident of Wyra in Khammam district; and Rangaiah and Madar, residents of West Godavari district. Deputy commissioner of police (Balanagar) S Ranga Reddy said Satyanarayana Reddy and Bharat Kumar were employees of Cash Management Services Info Systems and custodian of the ATM amounts. Srinivas Reddy, along with Anjaneyulu and Bobanna, took out huge money amounting to Rs 55.86 lakh from various ATMs of State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) and replaced the ATM money with fake currency notes. CMS Info Systems is engaged in cash management services in association with Cedge Technologies Ltd to various banks including SBH. Satyanarayana Reddy and Bharat were the route custodians of Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC), Kukatpally route which extends from SR Nagar to Gajularamaram and has four ATMs of SBH at Jagadgirigutta, Chandragirinagar and Shapurnagar. They have passwords which are kept in a sealed cover and hidden in a vault. Satyanarayana Reddy managed to steal the password of his colleague Bharat,’’ police said. Srinivas Reddy, a neighbour, instigated Satyanarayana Reddy to steal banks’ money from ATMs and take fake currency notes double the value in return. They were to use the fake money to fill the ATMs after stealing the genuine notes. Srinivas Reddy and Satyanarayana Reddy had been pilfering currency bundles totalling `55.86 lakh from four SBH ATMs at Jagadgirigutta, Chandragirinagar and Shapurnagar since April. The five were produced in court and sent to judicial remand.IE
