6:15 PM Thursday Update: Interesting news reported by Cincinnati Business Courier: Speaking to council’s transportation committee, Michael Moore, the director of transportation and engineering, said unless there is council action between now and May 1, he plans to implement a revised version of the bikeway. Tweaks are often made to plans after council approves them, and this one is minor enough not to require a vote. May 1 is the deadline for the city to present a signed contract to the Ohio Department of Transportation for the work. Moore made this statement in response to a question from Vice-Mayor David Mann. **This means, Council does not have to vote at all and the city staff will move forward with the plans for the Central Parkway Protected Bikeway, incorporating David Manns motion for a change.** This is still a fluid situation, but unless someone on council insists on a vote, the matter could be settled now. Be sure to read the Enquirer editorial from today - and the Cincinnati Business Courier commentary by Chris Wetterich, both posted below.
