6 MONTHS INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME BECOME PART OF THE GREEN ECONOMY CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY The National Cleaner Production Centre of SA (NCPC-SA) is the DTI’s key industrial sustainability programme, tasked with contributing to a competitive green economy and strengthening market access for SA industry. This is done by transferring resource efficiency and cleaner production (RECP) technologies and services to industry, aimed at achieving measurable economic, environmental and social benefits. The NCPC-SA’s Internship Programme offers graduate and post graduate students, in the field of engineering disciplines, the opportunity to become part of this initiative and programme and gain valuable in-plant experience by assisting companies in addressing competitiveness challenges, production improvement opportunities and skills gaps. The Intern candidates will be appointed by the CSIR’s and placed within selected companies from the Automotive, Chemicals, Metals Processing as well as Pulp and Paper sectors for a period of 6 months. All interns will undergo a comprehensive induction training programme prior to placement within the selected companies to sensitise them to the key elements related to energy, materials and water optimization as well as minimization of waste. A qualified mentor will be assigned to support the group of successful applicants. Commencement date for the Internship program will be 01 August 2013. These positions will be based in Western Cape. Requirements: A 3 year national diploma; bachelor’s degree; bachelor of technology; honours or masters qualification in any engineering field. Relocation cost will not be provided.
