6.Niger nabs migrants after desert slaughter Since ancient times crossing the Sahara meant crossing between two worlds, but then as now it was a very dangerous journey and often a lethal one. This was the fate of over 90 people, who were found dead in Nigers desert last week after their vehicles broke down in the vast wasteland. Since then the country has been cracking down on the migrant trade, writes UPI, recently intercepting over 120 migrants entering the desert. Niger has also ordered the closure of migrant camps and vowed to find the people responsible for the recent deaths. It appears that the migrants handlers abandoned them after the vehicles broke down, sealing their fate to die of thirst in the desert.
