6 OCLOCK NEWS UPDATE WITH Orange uganda Hq News coming in is that the constitutional court has rejected the reappointment of Benjamin Odoki as chief Justice. This after 4 out of 5 Justices ruled that his reappointment was wrong. Earlier today the first judge to read out her ruling was Lilian Tebatemwa who agreed with the petitioners saying Odoki could not be re-appointed because he hit the retirement age and that it would violet the constitution that states 70 as the retirement age. Justices Bbosa and Mwangusha later agreed with Justice Tibatemwa arguing that it was wrong for the President to reappoint Odoki. Odoki was recently quoted by the media as saying he would not retire from service of the country because he is still “firm and solid”. ………………………. A group of youth led by 2 youth activists who smuggled 2 yellow painted pigs into parliament premises protesting the ever increasing unemployment rates in the country has been arrested for dumping a coffin at the Independence Monument at Speak Road. Norman Tumuhimbise and Robert Mayanja, who are out of Luzira Prison on bail, are thought to have led a group of youth to the Independence Monument where they lit fire saying they are mourning a dead country. The youth, who describe their group as “Jobless Brotherhood”, are currently being interrogated by detectives at Kampala Central Police Station. Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango says the youth will face charges of “holding an illegal assembly.” ………………………… Police in Masaka is investigating the cause of a fire that gutted a girl’s dormitory at St. Jude Senior Secondary school leaving property in ashes. Noah Serunjogi the officer in charge said the police managed to contain the fire which started at about 8:00pm Sunday night before it spread to other dormitories as police continues to investigate the cause of the fire. A South Korean university rescinded an invitation for three Nigerians to attend a conference and a group of South Korean medical volunteers called off a trip to West Africa amid growing concerns about the spread of the deadly Ebola virus. The Duksung Womens University in Seoul said in a statement the school politely withdrew its invitation for three Nigerian students to attend an international conference that it is co-hosting with the United Nations starting from Monday.
