6 SUNDAYS IN. Yep... can you believe it? Today was our sixth Sunday at Erin United Methodist Church and we have already fallen head-over-heels for these folks. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, has made us feel like family. We moved in on a Thursday and hit the ground running. Weve made lots of new friends that really feel like old ones. Made lots of visits, joined the Rotary, did dinner for Project Transformation, performed a wedding, attended a funeral, sat with folks in the hospital, visited the jail, prayed over folks suffering, gave away backpacks to community children, had a blast at VBS, pumping up the Mens group, started a Bible Study, cooked for a few groups, served Holy Communion to folks in assisted living, loving Sunday school, invested in children, preparing to love on some youth and even done some pastoral visits on the river ;) I have eaten more pies, cakes and cobblers than I care to admit; been to several homes for dinner and have had a steady diet of fresh corn, squash, tomatoes, black berries, green beans and water melons- thanks to my church family. There is an amazing spirit of expectancy that has been flooding our worship services and this morning we did Holy Communion in a new way that gave folks longer time to pray at the altar. I am excited about our future together and the Lord is slowly giving me glimpses of a wonderful vision for this community. We are happy. We are grateful. We are excited. We are home...
