60 years ago today I met Patti and Kathy Davidson at Haneda International Airport, Tokyo, Japan. It was a great day in my life. Kathy was just a little over 6 months old and it was my first time to see her. It was May Day (May 1, International Workers Day in the Socialist and Communist parties.) and as we traveled from Tokyo to Yokosuka, where I was stationed at the US Naval Hospital, we observed tens of thousands of Japanese wearing red bandanas and red kerchiefs around their necks waving red flags while marching in the streets. This was an eye opening day for a twenty-two year old US Navy hospital corpsman. I have seen tremendous changes in the world since that day.
