69 years ago this morning 200,000 US Service Men stormed the beaches of Utah and Omaha on the Normandy France coastline. This was the beginning of the end for the reign of tyranny for Adolf Hitler and his Third Reich. In 8 hours nearly 9,000 men lost their lives on those two beaches. The 2nd Battalion of the Ranger Group lost nearly 60% of their entire battalion. At the 40th Anniversary of D-Day President Ronald Reagan gave one of the most passionate and compassionate speeches a US President has ever given. You can read the whole speech below, but, as we remember D-Day and how our country stood together in an extraordinary way, we should be... "Strengthened by their courage, heartened by their value [valor], and borne by their memory, let us continue to stand for the ideals for which they lived and died. Thank you very much, and God bless you all." President Ronald Reagan - June 6, 1984 youtube/watch?v=ZgDZdFQY3iM
