7/6 back on the trail today after a day and half. I had such a great time at the Greens house. I was invited to join them in neighborhood 4th picnic. I are like a king and even tried fresh salmon from Alaska. We didnt get home till midnight. The next day I went to a couple of stores to replace worn out gear. I drove a new Jeep Cherokee and loved it. It was strange to be driving and shopping where I had been 25 years earlier. That night was dinner at another friends house with huge steaks, chicken and lots of sides. Didnt get home till 11 so this morning I was tired but it was worth it. The Greens and their friends made me feel at home. It was a great visit. The hike out of. Hanover wasnt bad. There was a huge 1+ mile climb towards the end that I took real slow. Thankfully it wasnt overly hot or humid. I did pass one section probably 50 yards long that had a beavers dam 3 from the trail. I could see it swimming around. It that long dam lets go the trail will be washed out. Many places the dam was about 3 higher than the path. Last time I saw this was near the CT border. Im at the Trapper John shelter. Kid you not, thats the name. Only 2 other Nobos here and 1 Sobo. We are seeing more sobos though, 3 others today. They said the whites were great but frankly Im a little Leary of them and the hard climbs. Ill just have to take it slow and hope for good weather. 16 miles today. 7pm and Im going to bed.
