7 Engineering Colleges you should never choose in Anna University Counselling Fake Ads by Colleges Academic Performance Of Affiliated Colleges November/December 2012 Examinations Academic Performance Of Affiliated Colleges April/May 2013 Examinations Academic Performance Of Affiliated Colleges November/December 2013 Examinations Home » tamil nadu » engineering A very interesting topic right? You should be wondering what are the engineering colleges that you shouldn’t choose in Anna University counselling. This is not just names but characteristics of colleges, which you shouldn’t choose. 1. Colleges you find (only) by Advertisements If you find the name of an engineering college, just by advertisement in TV or newspaper ads or website ads, you should stay out of this college. Because these colleges are new colleges with much lesser experience and the sole aim of these colleges is to make money or to establish themselves. Just because of the promises they make in advertisements (100% placements, My son earns 2 Lakhs per month ), do not join in these colleges. About 90% of these advertisements comes with terms and conditions* Please Note: Some popular colleges might also have advertisements too, but they are good to choose. 2. Courses which are DIFFERENT In Anna University Counselling, if you are going to choose a course which is different from normal courses like ECE, EEE , CSE and IT then STOP! for a moment. The colleges offering these courses might have good reputation but these courses will not have proper placement facilities. When it comes to placements in final year only 2 or 3 companies will opt for these courses. But majority of the companies will go for much common courses. Also when you come out of college, your course will not be included in any off-campus placement drives or walkins. For example, a friend of mine chose Petroleum Refining which is available only in few colleges and now he struggles to get job off-campus as most companies only have “Chemical Engineering” in eligibility criteria. 3. College which do not have Symposiums and Active Clubs What is Symposium? Symposium is an inter-college function conducted by each college which will include a lot of cultural activities, competitions and workshops. These are places where you can develop your core knowledge and your management skills. What are Clubs? Clubs are small groups formed in colleges which will promote skill based activities such as Communication skills, Acting skills, Dances etc. When it comes to placements, clubs play an active role in selection process. Do not choose colleges which do not have such activities. Because these are the gateways to gain exposure and to get into companies and to explore opportunities outside your college. It also helps in participating other college symposiums to get better view of your industry. Companies give importance to Leadership quality and Communication Skills 4. Engineering Colleges without proper Internet Facility and Computers Operation of computers is becoming a basic qualification for almost all jobs. Even exams has been computerized. Almost 60% of students entering Anna University Counselling comes from government schools so college is the place to attain proper computer knowledge. Check whether the college has proper Coumpuer Lab and Internet facilities before you hop in into the college. 5. Engineering Colleges with less than 40% pass percentage Studying in a college with an academic performance of less percentage is worse than studying a computer course. Never choose a college which has less than 40% pass percentage. From 2014 supreme court has ordered that the academic performance of each college should be posted in Anna University website. You can check the academic performance of colleges in the below links: 6. Engineering colleges you haven’t even visited once Are you going to choose a college? Visit the college atleast once before you choose your college. Because whatever details colleges advertise about themselves will not be 100% honest. Visit the college on a normal day and casually talk to students. By visiting the college you will know more about the infrastructure, safety, location of college and also enquire students about the faculty, lab facilities and placements. 7. Engineering colleges started after 2010 For most of us, engineering is going to be the future. So do not risk your future by joining colleges which don’t have passed out alumni. Because we cannot be sure of the placements or the academic performance until 2 or more batches pass out of college. So these are the engineering colleges which you shouldn’t choose in Anna University Counselling. You can also check detailed coverage of courses, annual fee, hostel, transport, photos, location map along with their ratings and reviews of all engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu .
