7 Internet cafés for 3,000 people What do you do to reach the young generation for Christ? I already ran an evangelistic website in Thai. In 15 lessons, people go through the most important Bible stories. At the end, hopefully they understand why they need Jesus as Saviour. Most people come to the course through advertisment. Yet now I was thinking about reaching the youth in my own rural Thai town. There are only 3,000 people living here, yet we have 7 internet cafés. I decided to hand out brochures to the young people in the cafés, inviting them to check out the course. I even promised nice prizes to the ones who gave the best answers. Dissapointing Results? The response was disappointing. Only a few kids started answering, but they gave up after a few lessons. There was only one who continued. He wrote that he was 13 years old. Soon he started to come to our house, to ask whether he had a chance to get the main prize- a simple camera. His answers were not all that great. He tried hard, but he found it difficult to grasp the concepts. I encouraged him. Every few days, he came back to check in and ask whether he had any competitors. Sometimes he had to wait for me, and he started hanging out with my children and their friends. At the end of the month, he was the only one who had finished the course. He got the camera. But that was not the end of it. By now, he had joined the group of children who come to our house almost daily. And on Sunday he started to go to church with them. Now, several months later, when we are asking questions in the church, he will sometimes answer. He did not yet get it when he studied online. But now he is slowly starting to understand more of the Gospel. Internet Evangelism and the Local Church Internet evangelism is most powerful when there is a clear pathway towards a local church. GlobalRize is committed to make that happen. The content and technology we are using in Thailand to connect local seekers to e-coaches from churches in their community will be made available for use all over the world in the near future.
