7 years ago today I stood in the doctors office with my then 6 year old - Bailey Otis, whose big brown eyes with tears welled up in them looking at me asked me.....Am I going to die? I was speechless, my heart fell in my stomach...I lost my breath...finally I found the words and said, absolutely not, you are one tough little boy, we are going to get you to the hospital and get you well. We spent the next few days at Childrens Hospital in Milwaukee. Bailey never ceases to amaze us, he never cried, he let the doctors do what they needed to do. When the nurse was showing us how to check his blood sugar, he grabbed the poker from the nurses hand and told her to let him do it. She stopped talking mid sentence and said....well Ok then. At that moment I knew he was going to be OK. That we were going to be OK. There are no words to explain the amazing courage that this young man has, his determination and the fight he has are beyond commendable. We are so very, very proud of you and all that you have accomplished in your 13 years. We love you very much. - with Darrin Otis
