They, who fought on the sea, in the air, who took the beaches, who made and held the beachhead, who broke the wall, wrought deeds of such courage, daring, perseverance, martial virtue and human excellence, that they deserve to be praised in songs of eloquence far surpassing my powers. Soon, too soon, the memory of their deeds shall pass beyond the reach of the living. Let their story be one that every good man shall teach his sons and daughters in generations unceasing until the end of all ages. Let prayers of suffrage for the fallen go up without cease from home, from hearth, from every altar on which True Religion is practiced and from the lips of every one, who loves God with a sincere heart.
