$700,000 in Employee Training Grants Available to RI Businesses Governors Workforce Board offers matching grants The Governors Workforce Board has announced the release of an additional $700,000 to fund Incumbent Worker Training in 2014 to help RI companies upgrade the skills of current employees and build a highly-skilled, high-performing workforce. The funds are available to all Rhode Island for-profit and not-for-profit businesses that contribute to the Job Development Fund. Companies are eligible to apply for matching grants of $5,000 to $40,000. The grant application may be downloaded at gwb.ri.gov. Those interested in applying for an incumbent worker training grant are strongly urged to attend a pre-proposal conference to be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 8:30 AM at the RI Department of Labor and Training, 1511 Pontiac Avenue, Room 73-1, Cranston RI. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities. Proposals are due on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 no later than 4:00 PM at the Governors Workforce Board, 1511 Pontiac Avenue, Building 73-1, Cranston, RI 02920. The Governors Workforce Board is the primary workforce development policy-making body for the state of Rhode Island. Since its inception in 2005, the 19-member board has invested more than $70 million to improve the existing skill base of the workforce and anticipate the future needs of growing and emerging businesses.
