71 Noriega (August 6, 2013) The beauty of it, really: "Sir, can I just ask you something?" How many people start a conversation like that? Why not that other guy there, in the seat with the book bag, the one who looks like he might be a film critic? He has as much money as I do this morning. I am now subject matter. Can you smell that I have just been to the cash machine? Perhaps the lingering waft of a payday streams from me like cologne. I will resist you until my stop. I will resist with everything I’ve got. The lines above us rattle, sirens whoop. The morning gets hosed out. The better question is: what would I ask of you? If I remember you still, have I not given you more than my money?
