#737 I stayed in America for few years and noticed that the best thing there is their education system. Its free or is provided at a very low cost so that every section of people is educated. Education is an important requirement for a ciivilized society. Unfortunately in India, these days even for a pre-kg admission, we have to pay Rs.75,000-100,000 for admission. Can you imagine paying more than Rs.1 lakh to teach a kid learn ABCD? In America, some private schools also provide cheaper education, mainly from funds received from church and donations and volunteering done by parents. Here parents volunteer all school events like office work, cleaning, arranging sports day, setting up stage for school day, donating diapers/ stationary etc; So the school can hire some good teachers and leave many other things to volunteers.So this will reduce the cost of education. Now coming to the point of volunteers, no one can beat GSBs as we are born volunteers, we have built a temple by volunteering and we have also done several other good things as well volunteering. Unfortunately, we have not done much for education, and I cannot remember anything other than Canara (and to be sarcastic Experts as well). Cant we start a school which will hire good teachers and then run rest of the things through volunteers/ donations and funds. GSBs can be role models to rest of the society in providing cheaper, quality education. Now dont say, instead of giving big lectures why dont you do something. Yes, I am ready to provide Rs. 100,000 and volunteer as well when I have time. But that is not enough. So this message is for all people of community and some leader who can take initiative. We all can come together and make a difference. We have done in the past and we can do in future as well. YES WE CAN - Pai.
