8/17/13 BIBLE PASSAGE: 8/17/13 BIBLE PASSAGE (Job 25, 26, 27) From Job Bildad gave a right speech at the wrong time. His speech was sensible but it did not apply to Job’s situation. Bildad talked about the sovereignty of God. He said, “Dominion and fear belong to Him; He makes peace in His high places. Is there any number to His armies? Upon whom does His light not rise? How then can man be righteous before God? Or how can he be pure who is born of a woman? If even the moon does not shine, and the stars are not pure in His sight, how much less man, who is a maggot, and a son of man, who is a worm?” (Job 25:2-6). However, Job who had lost his family and livelihood did not need theological teaching from his friend Bildad. Job had already known about the sovereignty of God, and he did not need more education on that during distress. Job needed consolations and moral supports. All Job’s friends failed on that ground! Lesson: We believers should endeavor to hold feeble hands that are in crises. We should be less critical of others – even when their errors are evident. We should avoid heaping coals of fire on other people’s injuries. Our job as Christians is to help weak brethren get on their feet. We should help them to walk out of their problems with their heads raised up. God will remain grateful to any Christian who prioritizes love above criticism of others. Prayer: God please help me to be sensitive to the needs of other people. Let me be available to hold feeble hands to get on their feet, and to find their life purposes. Also, use me to restore backslidden Christians. Do not let me focus on people’s weaknesses, but help me to focus on their strength, so that they can be motivated to succeed. Please give me grace to be a productive vessel for you! For in the name of Jesus Chris I make my requests. Amen.
