8-24-2014: Gave Daddy the quilt for his Chemo Therapy Treatments... A moment that should be shared with EVERYONE. Thank you God for Daddy and his wonderful support system. Thanks go out to every single person that lifted him up in prayer. Something that started out to be a nightmare has been turned into a HUGE blessing for all. In case you cant hear the video: July 5th, about 10:40, us kids got a phone call. Ben ended up taking it and all I can remember hearing was “I saved your Dad, He had a stroke”. I can remember walking away and falling apart in the bedroom. Once Chrissy got me calmed down, I knew we had to get home ASAP. Once we got moving, EVERYONE pitched in and we were on the road within the hour. It will never cease to amaze me when I look back at the series of events and why they worked out precisely as they did. God’s plan for us all is usually a mystery.. but sometimes He blesses us with a glimpse into what they are as a reminder for us to trust in Him and to show us.. HE’S GOT THIS! Nothing, and I mean NOTHING was normal about the 4th of July river trip this year and we are truly thankful and blessed for that. Once we all made it to the hospital, safe and sound, the emotional rollercoaster that we experienced was the wildest ride we have even been on. We were greeted by Mom and Hope, thank the Lord she was in town and there to be with Mom. We were told that you had a tumor on your brain and quite possibly dealing with brain cancer. By the next morning, that turned to lung cancer that had moved to your brain. All of your family and friends that are here today were in the hospital room and or waiting room offering comfort, prayer, hugs and of course FOOD. They were there with any kind of support that we needed. It was absolutely AWESOME! We cannot thank everyone enough for what you all did. As a matter of fact, we damn near took over a whole waiting room with everyone that would show up each day! Once we knew what we were dealing with and what we were facing, we turned to God for prayer. Exactly what we had been taught all our lives. Your youngest Daughter took the lead and I couldnt have been more proud. I know you would have been too. While in surgery, us kids started thinking about what we could do for you when you got out and started treatments and this is what we came up with… First off, the back has the lung cancer ribbon on it. This will serve as a reminder of what you went through and what you are going to, as LJ would say, “give the whole loaf to!” The front is a collection of things that everyone here had a hang in putting together. Each square is from a different person, family or group and holds a special meaning. Amanda did a tremendous amount of work getting it together and we couldnt be happier with how it turned out… This will be something that you can take with you to your chemotherapy and have with you around the house. Anytime you need a reminder of the support that you have behind you, pull this up close and look at how much you mean to so many people. We will be there in spirit when we can’t be there to hold your hand or give you the hug you need! We love you Dad and you ought to be proud of your family and friends for the love and support and faith in God that we all have and share with each other.
