8/26/13 BIBLE PASSAGE: 8/26/13 BIBLE PASSAGE (Matthew 14: 22-26) From Matthew: Peter walked on water with Jesus Christ. His team of disciples was initially afraid to see someone walking on water, but when Peter realized that it was his boss performing a miracle, he asked to be involved. The scripture reported, “…And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus” (Matthew 14:28-29). However, peter was distracted with surrounding circumstances, and he started to sink, but Jesus saved him. It is reported, “But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased” (Matthew 14:30-32). Lesson: Christians should not take their faces off Jesus Christ. We must focus on him to receive courage and other needed help. We have tendency to be distracted, but we must be determined not to do so. Distractions will cause us loose our grips in God. Therefore, we must maintain our trust in God, and we must daily confess our faith in him, so that we can enjoy his lasting peace and prosperity. Prayer: Dear God, please help me to give you undivided attentions. Let me continue to trust you irrespective of any distraction or affliction that devil may bring my way. Let me hold on to my testimony in Jesus Christ unto the end, so that I can enjoy your lasting peace and prosperity. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
