8/30/97 Part I I returned to northern Kentucky in August of 1997. This time I drove, spending a productive day on Sand Patch grade in Pennsylvania on the way down. Worked in a visit with long-time friend Clifford Timecruncher Kuhl, but he had to work his job or some such nonsense, so most of my fanning was done solo. Within minutes of arriving at La Grange, the signals came to life, and I caught a southbound in the street (1). Made some record photos of Campbellsburg (2) and Sparta (3) stations. With the Short Line being quiet, I moved over to the CNO&TP. At Crittenden, KY, I found a northbound stopped with a distant headlight to the south (4). Minutes later, a CSX-powered northbound charged by (5, 6).
