8-5-14: Brief Update/Big Praise: Joel is with Matt right now. They sat Matt up in his chair. Joel said Matt has been placing his feet on the floor and attempting to stand up! Thank you Jesus!! I dont want to mislead anyone. Matt is still not fully conscious and if he wasnt strapped in and was able to make it all the way to his feet, odds are he would fall, but the point is his brain is starting to make those connections and tell his body what it needs to do. I am just overwhelmed with thankfulness to God right now!! Joel said it is really something - seeing Matt attempting to stand - after watching him laying in the bed for 4.5 weeks now. Hillary had come down from the 10th floor earlier (for those who may not know, Hillary is an NA in the burn unit at Baptist) and had texted me to say that Matt is feisty today. When she was down there, he wasnt yet in the chair, but was attempting to pull out tubes. Something tells me he is going to be quite a handful for awhile - LOL!! I have asked so many times for specific prayer requests, but right now I just ask that you would all join us in thanking and praising God for this exciting development.
