8 August 2014 Unfortunately, it seems like the skinny bay who visited for care yesterday, did not make it back home all the way... The same young man who thought it good to bring him for care, came calling for help again today. The pony is lying on the soccer field nearby, unable to get up. I packed up some meds, not sure what his ailment might be, and off we all went... Seeing that the gelding got dewormed yesterday, clear signs of worms in his dung are noted... To me it seems like he has an aching stomach, and while lying down, he was slowly passing dung, but perfectly formed, indicating that there is no other stomach issues... The dung however has some worms in, and some even crawling out of him themselves. The young man, and a few other spectators stood wide eyed, watching this, and us at work. Luckily, I explained to him yesterday that I suspect worms when deworming him, and even showed and explained the bots found in Bellas dung, so he now clearly saw them coming out... We administered some pain meds, some vitamins, etc., and also gave some water with electrolytes via syringe into the mouth. We turned the horse onto his other side, and made sure he is comfortable, and told the young man to let him rest, and check on him in the morning, which we will do as well... We are hoping and praying that he will be fine, and will surprise us, walking around in the morning...
