8 Things about me 1. My real first name is Meleta. 2. When I was a young girl, I worked at Silver Dollar City (sang during the music festival in the Wilderness Church with my mom (Linda Nichols), my grandmother (Rose Lee), and my sister (April Dawn). Those were awesome times! Love them all! 3. At the age of 10, I (along with two friends, ages 9 & 12) entered a singing contest and won a 6 hr recording session in Nashville, TN. 4. I was a foster parent and have cared for over 40 children throughout that time (mostly babies, but had some toddlers and even teenagers). 5. I ran a Maternity Shelter in my home in Missouri and our first girl was a delightful young lady from the Ukraine. She knew very little English and knew even less about how to care for an infant. All my years of fostering came in very handy. 6. I was adopted when I was around the age of 9 months. My birthmother is deceased and I have not seen my birth father in many years. Counting my birth family and adoptive family, I have four brothers and seven sisters. 7. My senior year, I was the only one to make All-State Honors Choir. 8. In 2011, I met the love of my life who is now my husband (Sterling C. Owens). He is a wonderful gift to me and I thank God for him every day. I now know what real and true, unconditional love is.
