8 Years ago today, Robe opened, and Chancery Lane was discovered. Together we embraced Nudie Jeans Co, fell in love with Samantha Wills when she was still a Bondi lass, shopped locally for sass & bide, Fleur Wood, Ginger & Smart, Jac+ Jack & FLUX. We watched Tsubi morph into ksubi, Jack London rise to greatness and sadly some fashion favorites fall. 2007 saw us secure $100k of State Government funding, as part of the Walk Bendigo initiative, and we installed the Hargreaves Street big red roof, new gates, ground and resealed the concrete pathing, increased our lighting and our security. 2 years on and neighbours moved in. Tim Baxter and Anita Jack shared my vision, The Dispensary Enoteca was born. Chancery Lane became a destination for many a local, a visitor, touring parties and media. Josh Gladstone and Megan Gladstone created the hole in the wall we love, that is now Elgordo, and next door we were treated to the delights of Anouk Styling, care of the beautiful Lauren Shellie and Emily McIntosh. Throughout this growth, Bendigos iconic Jools for Jim Hair Skin & Beauty, has been a steady hand of support and encouragement. Lyn, Jessica Tranter, Dr Matt & the Serious Skin team are Kings Of The Castle, tucked away upstairs where the colourful The Pixel Kitchen post production company grew up. Today El Gordo is nurtured by the beautiful Sara (and her sparrows) and behind the scenes, her husband Mike, both of whom have taken this cafe to the next level. Together weve all contributed to the rich tapestry of Chancery Lane. But 8 years on, Robe wouldnt exist without the support of Bendigo. So THANK YOU Bendigo! Thank you for shopping locally, for sending visitors our way, for supporting our events and loving Chancery Lane as much as we do. fi x
