8 (more) Random Facts about me (courtesy of Laken Herd) 1.) I went to Weller Elementary. 2.) Ive never liked sports. Still dont. But I did briefly in the 8th Grade join the Pipkin Pirates Football team. I quit after one practice but still... theres a random fact hardly anyone knows. 3.) Somehow (though it was a major event at the time) a lot of people dont know the following fact... Im Diabetic, Type 1 to be precise, and in December 2008... I came down with Diabetic Ketoacidosis... and almost died. I was in the ICU all the way through Christmas. And when they first took me to the Hospital (via ambulance) I was so bad that A.) I dont remember even being in the ER, B.) My heart rate apparently was ALL OVER the place, C.) My Grandpa and Mom both say that the Doctors not only thought they were going to lose me there in the ER but that they had the electric paddles on stand-by warmed up to shock my heart (and me) back to life because they were expecting me to die any minute. Very scary time for my family. Ive never seen my Mom, or my Grandpa (RIP) cry so much. 4.) Ive worn glasses since about the 1st or 2nd Grade 5.) One of the strangest ways to start a friendship with someone was the way my friendship with Dathan Jay Risvold-Mcredmond started. We both were in the 8th Grade... and at this point I had just switched Middle Schools (I had gone to a different Middle School for 6th and 7th grades you see) so I had no friends at Pipkin yet... Well I was in the lunchroom when I saw Dathan and a bunch of his friends (Andy Potts, Shane Eagle and I dont remember who all else at this point anymore) sitting at one of the lunch tables. Dathan (though again, I didnt know him or any of these guys at the time) had an open bag of Cheetos at his spot. Me, being an avid lover of Cheetos, took the bold move of going; sitting down by Dathan and interrupting his conversation; taking a single Cheeto and saying, I love Cheetos! And, somehow from that act, and that day on, Dathan and Is friendship was sparked and set in stone. 6.) Somehow lots of friends and others that know me, seem to not know this fact often... but my Dad, James Edward Miller, died when I was only 1 (almost 2). Thus it was (until 2003) just my Mom and I my entire life growing up. 7.) My Mom and Dad went back and forth on a name for me... and fought about it... and couldnt agree. My Dad (this isnt a joke) wanted to name me (since they knew I was going to be born in October) Frankenstein! My Mom said absolutely not (though I did come to find out from her that they made an agreement that if I had been born on Halloween, they wouldve named me Frank-Einstein so that my Dad would be happy, and Mom could live with my name). My Mom really wanted to name me Oliver, but my Dad said absolutely not (do to a politician at the time by the name of Oliver North, and my Dad not wanting Mom or him to look like supporters of the guy). So round and round they apparently went until (I believe it was my Uncle David P Stanton) someone finally said, well why not with all the Davids in the family name him David? My Mom liked that idea. And so did my Dad. And thus, in both respect/honor to my Grandfather (the late David O Stanton) and my Uncle (David P Stanton) I was named David. 8.) Heres one for fun... if my Dad hadnt been adopted (thus making him a Miller) but had kept his biological last name... I would today be David Stanton Bennett instead of David Stanton Miller. And then if you want to get really fun when you think about all that, if Id been born on Halloween and Dad had never been adopted I couldve been today, Frank-Einstein Stanton Bennett hahaha!!!
