828 Ministries Thought/Verse of the Day November 29, 2013 Top Ten Searched Bible Verses - Number Five - Genesis 1: 1 God Versus Darwin In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. - Genesis 1: 1 (NIV) Continuing in our series on the top ten most searched Bible verses we come to number five - Genesis 1: 1. With eight million visitors per month to Biblegateway, this list is probably the most accurate of its kind. It gives me some peace to know that in a world that shoves evolution down the collective throats of all who must listen that many would seek the truth about how this all really got started. I continue to maintain that belief in evolution requires far more faith than I am willing to give to a theory posited by a singular man. That is because man has always sought to supplant God. Without the existence of God then we no longer have to worry about what God wants. We no longer have to concern ourselves with an outside force of our own morality. I have always stated that yesterdays science is todays old wives tales. History is littered with medical practices for example, which would make todays doctors cringe in their stupidity and inaccuracy. The same will go for tomorrows doctors looking back on todays treatments. Can you imagine if they ever allow cancer to be cured how the future will judge something as barbaric as chemotherapy and radiation treatment? Please hear me well. I am not anti-science. I am anti science pretending to be God. Take something as recent as the big bang theory, which was widely accepted as scientific fact. This theory says that billions of years ago all known matter once rested on a space no bigger than the head of a pin and then for some unknown reason it all exploded, randomly creating everything we now see and cannot see in the cosmos. Included in this random event was the creation of earth, which luckily landed at just right spot relative to the sun to support life. Of course there was no life just a mixture of molten activity and rock. Yet the theory insists that out of this rock for another unknown reason sprang unicellular organisms which would eventually evolve into multicellular organisms. From this would begin an evolutionary process that would lead to higher and higher life forms until one day from apes - humans appeared! Wow. It takes some level of faith to believe that! I just believe that, as our key verse teaches us - in the beginning...God. I do not need a man to guess what may have happened and try to pass it off as science. I just need faith. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. - Hebrews 11: 3 (NIV) Science mocks the very idea of faith while all the while possessing it in far greater measure than most professing believers! It is all a matter of what we place faith in. For the man who desperately wants there to be no God, any theory which can discount a divine creator is welcomed with open arms. Enter Charles Darwin, a naturalist from the 1800s. I will leave the work of an apologist to the apologists and simply say that it could have been any man, with any theory that sought to remove the notion of God from the equation. It would have been as welcomed and heralded and celebrated as evolution is today. To hear the God-deniers defend their position by mocking true faith is sad because they cannot see their own silliness. That they think a theory posited by a 19th century man must be considered scientific fact because enough God-deniers gathered together to agree on it. They deny the Bible by saying it was merely written by men while blindly accepting a theory written by man. They of course were not there to witness their theory in action any more than I was around when God created the heavens and the earth. However, I have the Bible on my side and the Holy Spirit indwelt within me. They can mock and dismiss the Word of God but we must never lose sight of why we believe what we do. Here are some things to remember: The Bible contains 66 books that work in complete concert with one another, in absolute harmony. Sure the denier can always point to some minor discrepancy here or there that usually comes down to a translation issue but overall, you will never see conflict within Scripture. With this understanding we must realize that these 66 books were written by 40 different authors, who in most cases, did not even know each other! Their backgrounds were as diverse as it comes too. From Kings to fishermen and from Prophets to tax collectors. Yet they all work together and are consistent in theme and message. Now we take this to another level when we realize that the 66 books, written by 40 different people, was written over a period of 1500 years! When the Apostle Paul was writing his letters he had no idea they would become the majority of the New Testament! Anymore then when Moses was writing the Torah or Jeremiah was writing his experiences that they would all end up in the same book with Lukes account of the life of Christ or Judes plea to be on guard for false prophets! These were all written in three different ancient languages. Take this summary found on the web: For those non-believers who postulate that post-Moses Biblical authors had ‘access to’ and ‘understanding of’ earlier ancient Biblical texts ‘written in’ uncommon languages in order to ‘back their then-present-day writings’ into a grander ‘fully-harmonious’ New York Times Best Seller, all-the-while trusting that ‘yet-to-be-born authors’ would carry forward the ‘conspiratorial baton’ and author later books ‘perfectly harmonizing’ within 10 different genres all previous ones (previous texts that would not be aggregated, by the way, until two centuries after the last authors were martyred in horrific fashion…for a lie that would later hoodwink hundreds of millions of professed Christians for two millennia), then I have some swampland in Florida that I’d like to discuss with you as a “sure thing” investment. These books were also written on three different continents and the kicker for us to realize is that the book effects everyone throughout history in the same fashion. The same Bible that saves people today in America saves the sinner in the Congo. It is the exact same book that saved the sinner in the fourth century and the 14th century. It is simply not plausible to dismiss the Bible for what it really is unless you are actively trying to dismiss God. But no matter how man tries to discount God, he only makes himself look foolish today and eternally damns himself. Because one day every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. On that day the mockers will realize that Charles Darwin was just a man who lived in the 19th century who had an interesting thought but was not God... God created the heavens and the earth. Rev.
