9/11/01=911 This is the day few of us will ever forget.Many Americans lost their lives in a senseless act of terrorism. There were many heros that day. Some were on duty and others were normal everyday Americans. Some made it out alive to tell their stories others were not so lucky. We loss 343 of our own family that day. Not our immediate family, but our family all the same. I would like to take this opportunity to spotlight a group of individuals who risk their lives not only on days like this ,but on everyday. They leave the comfort of their warm beds in the middle of the night,answer the call on holidays, or whenever they are called out to help. Some get a paycheck for their services, but many volunteer. They attend many hours of training,support and participate in community events, and also take the time to teach our children how to remain safe during an emergency. These people are a rare breed, because many cant do what they do and others cant understand why they do it. Today on this day I would like to thank all the firefighters for their service to our community and our country. I can say with great pride that Lafourche Parish Fire District # 3 has the best trained and dedicated bunch of firefighters who care about their community. Thanks to all of you for keeping our families and our community safe.
