9/21/14 SUNDAY WORD Ephesians4:1-16 UNITY Unity has been established, now its our duty to strengthen and maintain this unity.. Christ brought together the jews & the gentiles.. -Unity is not uniformity (1Cor.12:4-6) -Unity is not conformity -Unity is not singularity -Unity is not being together -Unity is an attitude of the heart & mind -Unity is the state of being undivided & unbroken -Oneness in mind, feelings, etc. -Where there is unity, there is always victory -Mother Theresa said: I can do things you cannot do, you can do things I cannot do 1. Unity must be maintained (vv.1-6) -Live a life worthy of d calling u have received.. -How? by JohnStott: 1.be completely humble -Think dat oders r better dan urself.. 2.be gentle -u do not insist in ur personal rights..u consider others first.. 3.be patient -accept or tolerates problems or sufferings w/o becoming annoyed or anxious.. 4.bear one another in love - 5.make every effort -Ephesians is d only epistle in new testament dat uses UNITY.. -we have all d natural tendency to divide.. -We cant be perfect, but atleast we tried.. -Kinds of spirit: a.evil b.human c.holy spirit 7truths about unity: a.One body-the church of Christ b.One spirit-the blessed holy spirit c.One hope-the one dat saves d.One Lord-the risen Lord JESUS CHRIST e.One faith-in GOD f.One baptism-the Christian Baptism g.One GOD and Father of us all-the ONE TRUE GOD 2.UNITY MUST BE STRENGTHENED (vv. 7-13) -It is given IN GRACE by Christ as he apportioned it.. a.Apostles-u have seen Jesus b.Prophets- c.Evangelists- d.Pastors-takes care of the flock.. e.Teachers-feeds the flock Purpose of the gifts: -prepares the people -sumtyms the healed r stronger dan its original state..
