I had only a vague idea of the numerous obstacles & challenges to come, but, also knew (and feared) the reality that this journey was completed by far fewer than the number that began it. I never lost faith & always tried to be supportive, however, the Mom in me lost many nights of sleep, spent countless hours on my knees in prayer & Googled more than I think I ever have. With all of that said, YOU DID IT!!! So, today, I watch you walk across that stage to receive your black beret, crest & flash & Im overwhelmed by emotions: PRIDE for your amazing accomplishments - Field & Ruck Excellence; LOVE - abounding love for you & this amazing young man youve become; JOY for you that youve attained your dream job & now get to live it and travel the world; FEAR that you are now truly on the journey that could take you into combat & danger way more often than this Momma would like; and finally PEACE. Peace because I know God has had His hand in every moment of this and that He will be at our sides as you embark on this next chapter. You earned this, son.
