90% of Muslims worldwide will see these cartoons as offensive... Of course, they ARE offensive and they are meant to be offensive... They have the right to publish them (under freedom of speech) but this is not something that will help improve relations between Muslims, Jews, and Christian, or between Europe/the West and the Muslim World. It is also not something that help promote a moderate, modernist, and tolerant Islam. Quite the opposite, it will only strengthen the message and the appeal of the extremists, who want to portray this as an attack/affront on Islam and on the prophet... In and of themselves, these cartoons are nothing and meaningless, but you must take them in the context of all the violence, strife, suffering, and civil wars taking place all over the Arab/Islamic world... The terrorists message (that this is a WAR on Islam) will only be strengthened by such ridiculous and stupid cartoons... mocking the prophet...
