#9729 To all those who place room ads with race requirements/preference: I understand it is your prerogative to place what ever you want for the room you are renting out, but dont you think that its rather racist? No offence, but I see A LOT of rooms which state, Prefer Chinese. As an Indian, that really makes me feel stereotyped. Now I highly doubt a Malay, or an Indian for that matter, would put up such a requirement, so Im going to assume those who do are Chinese themselves. So to all Chinese who rent out rooms with preference for your own race, heres a little nugget: Dont you think that weve been trampled on enough? YOU yourself know what it is like to feel like a second class citizen. You know what it is like to be told that you dont fit the quota. From loans to education, you know exactly how it feels like when youre told youre not the right race. So why in the world, would you do that to others? Ive never rented a room before, but I feel disgusted when I see such ads. Basically, youre telling me, just because of my race, Im not good enough to rent a room? Why, cause Indians are smelly? Dirty? Is it because were rowdy? Is it because we drink a lot? Honestly, that there is stereotypes and it is royally, absolutely messed up. To think that each Indian is the same. Or even a MALAY for that matter. I know plenty of Malays who are kind, loving, neat and tidy people. Those who are very easy to get along with and who are hard working. Its such a shame that there are those who complain about inequality , but who happily entertain it themselves. Sorry for the long and messy post, but man, its such a pathetic state of affairs.
