A 10-year review was conducted at UCLA-Harbor (an urban Level I trauma center) on gunshot wounds. The information they collected is rather interesting: -702 gunshot wounds were treated, with 501 surviving the injury -Of the 501 survivors, only 28 required surgical intervention -Of the 28 that required surgery, 35% required a tracheostomy -The mean age was 28 -The mean hospital stay was four days -The average cost per patient was $101,000.00 Want to read more on this report?
