A 19-year-old man from Bourg has been missing in Texas since Tuesday when he got off the towboat he had been traveling on for work, his father said today. Gabriel Verdin, 19, was last seen by one of his coworkers around 9:30 Tuesday night, his father, Shannon Pitre, 44, said. Verdin, a new hire as a deckhand for Bourg-based LeBouef Bros. Towing arrived on a tugboat in Channelview, Texas, Tuesday. After the boat docked, he and a co-worker decided to walk to a local bar, Pitre said. Verdin was playing pool with a man he had met in the bar when his co-worker entered the bars restroom. When he returned to the bar, Verdin was gone along with the man he had been playing pool with, Pitre said. “When his co-worker came out of the bathroom and didnt see him playing pool anymore, he went to the bartender and asked if she had seen him. She told him that Gabe had gone outside presumably to look for him. That was the last time anyone saw him,” Pitre said. The Harris County Sheriffs Office is investigating, officials said.
