A 23 year old man is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in relation to the theft of four vehicles, housebreakings and various road traffic offences. As part of a dedicated operation to tackle vehicle thefts, five vehicles were recovered yesterday (Tues 8 Apr) throughout the Aberdeen area. The vehicles recovered were; a blue Range Rover and blue Peugeot 308 stolen from the Springfield Avenue area, a black Audi A3 and silver Mercedes CLS 250 stolen from the Contlaw Brae area and a black VW Polo stolen from the Kemnay Place area. All vehicles were stolen overnight between Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 April. Divisional officers were also assisted last night by the force helicopter. Detective Inspector Lorna Ferguson said: We are determined to tackle the issue of car crime and we are making use of the additional resources available to us under Police Scotland. We continue to have dedicated patrols to deter and detect car criminals, conduct bail checks and put people to court. We are urging members of the public to support us in our efforts. We are finding that vehicles are still being stolen from unsecured properties where either a door or window has been left open. It is also the case that keys are being lifted through letterboxes and so we are re-issuing our appeal for members of the public to ensure that doors and windows are locked and keys kept out of easy reach from these opportunistic thieves. Sadly, a minority of individuals think they have the right to take peoples property and so we ask the public to help us stop these people. Anyone with information about these crimes is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
