A 2nd Chance For Roger Dear all, I am really comforted that there are so many of you that are concerned about Rogers condition. Current situation is as below: Roger s condition worsen this morning, his penis head is turning black and I have sent him for an emergency treatment at AMK animal doctors where I brought him on Sunday and Monday. The initial examination and diagnosis: The tip which is turning color is worrisome. It might get necrotic. However, the castration is definitely a must now. Thereafter, they will stitch the skin over and use a catheter to ease his urination. But we dont know whether the swelling will go down after. If it doesnt, then he will need a penile amputation. The vet is very kind, they will keep him for tonight after his surgery and take out the stitches tomorrow. The latest updates by the vet after the X rays came back, theres a complication. Rogers situation is not gonna be a simple sterilization process. Theres a stone in his penis and thats what causing the problem. So the vet is gonna try to flush the stone back into bladder to do a bladder surgery. The bladder surgery is less complicated therefore cheaper option. $800 - $1000. However if the stone cant be flushed back and remains lodged in the penis, then they have to do surgery on the penis and the costs will double up to approx $2k or more. At this point, I really do not know what the final bill will be. The vet understands and is very kind. Dr. Cathy Chan from The Animal Doctors in AMK St. 11.
