A 3-0 derby day victory in the sunshine at Stadio del Fosdyke - TopicsExpress

A 3-0 derby day victory in the sunshine at Stadio del Fosdyke boosted our chances of climbing the table as the season draws to a close. Sutterton are a difficult opponent and the opening exchanges were even but we have the greyhound like Matt Howden at our disposal and it soon paid dividends! As Matt was sent scampering on to a through ball he waltzed past the keeper and rolled the ball in to an empty net to give us a hard fought lead. The men in tangerine then took control and with veteran midfield maestro Scott Wiseman pulling the strings in the middle a second wasnt far off. After some fine link up play involving Silky Sam Resson and the energetic Nicky de Vries the visiting custodian was forced in to a fine save but Howden was on the rebound before anyone else and it was 2-0. The Sutterton keeper was called upon on a number of ocassions in the first half to keep out the rampant Fosdyke attackers but at the other end our solid back four protected stand in sticks man Gary OConnor donning the gloves with confidence! The second half saw the home side dominate with a more composed performance than we have seen of late and birthday boy Ruslan Dukalskis hit an absolute rapser that would have took the net off and lifted the posts out of the ground had it gone in! It wasnt long before the pace of Matt once again befuddled the yellow and blacks back line and he completed his hat trick. A complete performance by all involved that harked back to the Fosdyke of last season and a welcome three points. Man of the Match - Matt did bag a hat trick, but this week the award goes to Hes here, hes there, hes every ruddy where midfield action man Scott Wiseman. No game next week but Wyberton Reserves a week later and then a final home tie with Woodhall Spa to arrange and we are done.
