A 38-YEAR-OLD man has divorced his wife after he discovered that she had been cheating on him through Facebook. In this matter, Dixon Mwale, who resides in Lusaka’s Olympia area, had sued Cleopatra Phiri, 22, for divorce in the Boma Local Court. Appearing before principal local court magistrate Mable Mwaba, who sat with senior local court magistrate Miyanda Banda and senior local court magistrate Boaz Banda, Mwale told the court that he had caught his wife cheating on him twice since they got marriage in 2005. “The first time when she cheated, we were living in Kitwe…I was very hurt that I sent my wife away but we were reconciled by the family. I forgave her but I decided to move to Lusaka so that we could start a new life,” he said. Mwale testified that he decided to take Phiri to school so that she could advance her education but that she started receiving strange phone calls. “She started in grade eight and she used to receive strange phone calls. When I asked her about it she just told me ‘Let me play. I will maintain my marriage later, but for now let me play’. She claimed the people calling her were her fellow pupils,” Mwale told the court.
