A 4.5 million dollar USDA Rural Development Grant was announced by the Pikeville City Commission on Monday for the construction of a new Waste Water Treatment Plan. The new eco-friendly plant will be one of the first of its kind in Kentucky allowing the city to double its capacity, with the option of tripling it as needed. The city has met with other funding agencies and expects additional announcements as well. With the citys unprecedented growth over the past few years, along with the planned growth for the coming years, this new plant positions the city to support its growth while being able to provide some of the lowest utility rates in the state for the city’s residents and businesses.
