A 9/11 memory: The alarm woke Scott and I to news of the first plane hitting the tower. We turned on the TV and with Zach and Sam, and everyone else in our country watching, were dumbfounded when we witnessed the second plane crash into the other tower. We were all numb, horrified, in shock. Zach was in 6th grade, Sammy in 4th. I remember Zach getting so upset with a classmate~a friend, who minimized the attack on our country. Zach was appalled that this friend wasnt even sad and didnt seem to care. The friendship faded away. Over the years, Zach would remember this once close friend and shake his head. Z still couldnt comprehend how this former friend was unaffected on a day wed never forget. Later, in July, 2012, You may not remember me, he began, searching my face. Oh, yes, yes, I do, I said, giving him a hug. The former friend had waited in line at Zachs memorial service to pay his respects. Today, on the 13th anniversary, we remember all those who lost their lives, their loved ones, and all the heroes. God Bless the USA.
