A B-17E Flying Fortress SN 41-9234 with a crew of 9, force-landed by anti-aircraft fire that damaged 2 engines on 08Jan1943, lying on a mountain side near Kaisinik below Black Cat Pass to the east of Wau in Papua New Guinea. During the crash landing, the fuselage broke near the radio compartment. The Gray Ghost wreckage has since been taken to the Pacific Aviation Museum at Ford Island in Oahu, Hawaii to be restored for static display.
