A BRIEF HISTORY OF DASMARIÑAS WEST NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL With the desire to respond to the government’s drive of demobilizing access to education, Mr. Rafael D. Reyes, the former principal of Dasmariñas Relocation Center High School, together with determined assistance of some concerned leaders and members of the community, the third annex of Dasmariñas Relocation Center High School was established. Despite disputes triggered by the building of the school, nothing hindered the group to fight for an institution, which would cater the educational needs of the youth of the community and its neighborhood. Dasmariñas Relocation Center High School Annex – J, which rose on June 1989, was situated in Brgy. San Antonio de Padua I, Dasmariñas, Cavite and sprawled on a 2, 679 square meters of land. It had an initial enrolment of 352 students distributed in five sections of first year and two sections of second year. The teaching force included four male teachers and thirteen female mentors. The entire school populace was, at the outset, quartered in three buildings. The structure that was found in the front was a one-room building, which was utilized as for the school canteen and the room, being the only one area where there was a comfort room inside. The six-room building at the left was used as classroom. The building in the right wing, which was consisted of five rooms, housed the faculty members, the administrators and the guidance counselor. The further most room served as the school library. In 1990, another structure, which was lined up with the left wing building, was constructed. In the course of years, a school stage, a makeshift study area and the path walks were added to the school’s physical structure. Considering the necessity for protection and safety, a perimeter fence was started although the construction has not been complete until the next few years due to lack of funds. However, with the untiring effort rendered by the school personnel, parents, and the community, the school fence was at the last finished in 1991 – the year when the first batch of graduates received their diplomas. New buildings were raised to accommodate the increasing student population and new mentors were added to the instruction staff. Another two-classroom building stood which housed the guidance center and the computer room. With the continuous change and improvement of the school goes the change of leadership which all did their parents in its advancement. In the year 1994, the school gained the name Dasmariñas National High School Annex-J by virtue of article 5122. When the year 1999 came, the construction of the two storey building was built throughout the effort of the PTA gained by the Cong. Ireneo Maliksi, which was considered as a gift for the schools 10th anniversary. The structure was completed in the following year. Conversely, in 2002, the school name was converted to Dasmariñas West National High School and achieved its fully anatomy from the main school by virtue of DepEd Order signed by Secretary Andrew Gonzales. At the same year, new building was positioned at the corner of the schools site with the allotment of Cavite Governor Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. With these constant improvements in the school amenities comes the upgrading of the school’s physical appearance. Though deficient in space, the school personnel, in connivance with the students, parents and community members, work hand-in-hand in the beautification of the school. The turfs were modesty rich with well-kept ornamental plants. The school façade looks cozy with a humble landscape highlighted with little pond and miniature garden. Added to these featured was a new stage granted by the municipal government of Dasmariñas Headed by Municipal Mayor Elpidio F. Barzaga Jr. At present, the low institution which was established on 1989 leaves no traces of wild grasses that grew on its grounds or of the old but which stubbornly stood in protest in its midst, but a present filled with hope for a better tomorrow. At this time, the school is headed by Mrs. Josefina A. Brinas, Principal IV.
