A Beloved Mother She gently woke you with the words that showed her love, Her kindness showed you smiles and loving eyes, Her teaching was instruction for your growing life And she strengthened you with help that gave you light. She is the loving mother that God gave to you and me. She’s beloved to your heart and she lives in His eternity. Our hearts cry out in longing for the things of gracious memory. Our beloved mother was a gift from heaven’s treasury. The arms that held you close and the hands that dried your tears Were filled with mothers-love and they drove away your fears. You sheltered there, against her heart, grateful she was near; Her love became your hiding place and guarded you from fear. Her answers to your questions always sought your good, And she challenged you to understand the path on which you stood. The wisdom God had given her revealed that where she stood Was the place that fought your enemies and always sought your good. Her face was like a mirror that could see into your soul. She taught the things that God had given to help you to be whole. The light she shined into your hearts were the words of Jesus’ love That she spoke as gracious comfort, from His treasury above. The loving gifts that touched your lives continue to be realized, As angels guard the children that she carries in her heart. Your beloved mother waits for you in heaven, at His side.
