A Bit of Winter Weather Heading Our Way. There will be wind gusts of 40+ mph possible along the water Saturday afternoon. Snow levels drop to 1,000 ft Saturday night potential for minor slush just east of Maple Falls. A Winter Storm Watch upgraded to Warning for north Cascade Mountains/ Mt. Baker area, from midnight to 0600 Sunday; 12-20 inches new snow expected. High ice concerns for the foothills Saturday night. Winter road weather concerns return to the foothills by Saturday night! Dry conditions with mostly cloudy skies this afternoon. Rain showers develop this evening, then increase to steadier moderate rain for the overnight hours. Close call for some wet snow E of Maple Falls in the evening, but temperatures should remain warm enough to prevent any concerns. Steady rain continues into Saturday morning before breaking up to showers around midday. Winds will become breezy to gusty for the afternoon hours. Snow levels fall near 1,500 ft late day, and as low as 1,000 ft Saturday night. Showers redevelop early Saturday evening, then taper off towards midnight. Most areas remain wet in the evening, but cant rule out minor slush for SR 542 E of Maple Falls. Overnight will be drier, but cooler. Most lowlands narrowly avoid a freeze, but a freeze in the foothills will develop ice concerns.
