A C R Y L I C B O N D C R E T E ® DESCRIPTION : ACRYLIC BONDCRETE is a 100% acrylic latex used as a high strength admixture and bonding agent for Portland cement mortar and concrete. It provides excellent resistance to impact, abrasion, moisture and attack by acids or other water soluble chemicals. As a polymer modifier, it provides improved cement hydration and bonding properties to enable effective application as thin as feather edge. When used as a bonding slurry, the bond strength is retained even in damp exterior conditions. It can be used for bonding fresh mortar or concrete to existing concrete or other sound substrates, such as brick or block, in nonstructural applications. RECOMMENDED FOR Concrete Stucco Terrazzo Repair mortars Masonry Portland cement – sand mixes ADVANTAGES Improved flexural strength minimizes cracks in concrete, plaster and stucco. Improves bond and impact strength Improved resistance to freeze/thaw cycling and moisture migration DIRECTIONS FOR USE : Mixing: Mix thoroughly immediately prior to use. Surface Preparation: Remove all loose, unsound or contaminated concrete from area to be repaired. Roughen concrete bonding surface by mechanical means (sand or shot blast or chipping hammer). Prewet concrete for up to 4 hours, then remove all standing water and allow surface to dry before applying ACRYLIC BONDCRETE slurry, mortar or concrete. For Use as an Admixture: As an admixture, ACRYLIC BONDCRETE can be used for horizontal, vertical and overhead patching applications. ACRYLIC BONDCRETE can be used to replace all or part of the mixing water in Portland cement mortar or concrete. Use 2 gallons (7.6 l) minimum of ACRYLIC BONDCRETE per bag (94 lb/42.6 kg) of Portland cement used. Add additional ACRYLIC BONDCRETE or water to achieve the desired consistency. NOTE: Latex modified mortars and concretes must have proper mix designs in order to perform properly. R O D U C T A T A H E E T PDS v. A05 For Use as a Bonding Agent: Slurry Bond Coat: For optimum bond strength mix ACRYLIC BONDCRETE undiluted with Portland cement. A ratio of 1 part by volume of ACRYLIC BONDCRETE to 1 ½ parts by volume of Portland cement is suggested to provide a creamy thick bonding slurry. The prepared bonding slurry should be scrubbed with a broom into the prepared concrete substrate just ahead of the repair material replacement. If the bonding slurry dries before the concrete or mortar is placed, it must be removed by wire brushing or water blasting and then recoated with fresh bonding slurry after the residual water is removed. Neat Bond Coat: Apply ACRYLIC BONDCRETE to properly prepared concrete substrate by roller, brush, or sprayer at a coverage rate of 200-250 sq ft/gallon (5-6 m²/l), using more or less depending on the porosity. Wait at least 40 minutes, until the bonding film is clear and dry to the touch, before applying mortar or concrete. IMPORTANT: Film must be dry to touch (not tacky) before pouring concrete. A neat, bonding coat of ACRYLIC BONDCRETE will retain its ability to bond effectively for up to 2 weeks if it is kept dry and clean. Curing: ACRYLIC BONDCRETE modified mortars or concretes and bonded applications generally require damp curing followed by drying in order to achieve full physical properties. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS : Do not use as a neat bonding agent for any vertical, overhead or structural application or with rapid setting cementitious products. The minimum recommended application temperature is 50°F (10°C). Temperature must remain at or above 50°F (10°C) for at least eight hours and preferably 24 hours after application of ACRYLIC BONDCRETE. While stored, the product is stable to five freeze/thaw cycles, however it is best to prevent the product from freezing. If frozen, allow the material to rise slowly to room temperature and stir occasionally. Do not cure with steam. PACKAGING : 1 gallon (3.8 l) containers. This product can be also purchased in 5 gallon (19 l) containers and 55 gallon (208 l) drums.
