A CHAT WITH GEN.MOHAMMADU BUHARI (GMB) We arrived Kastina very late and the man I followed is a retired General and an Hausa man.He took us to a hotel where we passed the night. He said GMB does not accept visitors after 8pm.Two of his orderlies took me to my room and I ordered for my food ,ate and slept off.By 5am I was up,had my devotion and got ready.I was scared to go to the Generals room.Shortly,I heard a bang on my door as I opened the door,I saw two stern looking broad chest men requesting me to come to the Generals room.I never imagined he was awake that time. When I got in ,he was dressed in a white kaftan so I prostrated to greet him good morning. He answered me but warn that he does not like people greeting him the way I did as he is not a traditional chief. He said in a seemingly commanding tone that he prefer the military salute .I shakingly manage to try a salute(the last time was in 1997 during NYSC orientation!) .He replied and told us to go to the car.In the car he put a call to GMB that he was coming to see him.We arrived at his residence around 8am.We were ushered in since GMB had told them we were coming. We moved with military precision to his Sitting room(sorry, living room!)As soon as we entered GMB stood up and my General gave him a salute.I tried to manage a salute too.!GMB surprisingly responded!I knew that I didnt do it well but none of the two Generals complained after all! We sat down at different directions. They started talking in Hausa.Pronto one of the aides whispered something to GMB and i saw him nodded his head in affirmation.Shortly they came back with tea and bread. He took some sips but was wondering and thanking God for giving me the opportunity. After some time the soft spoken GMB turned towards me and said Youngman ,whats your name.i answered very timidly(who am i before a General, and former president and commander in chief!)He asked of my qualifications and as i begin to garner confidence i answered. He said he want me to answered his questions frankly and i should feel free to ask him anything. He asked me how do people see me in your state?I told him many people like him because of his anti corruption posture but that some people hate him for sending our Prof Ambrose Alli to jail when many more corrupt governors in the north were set free.He went into his room and brought some old documents showing me petitions written by some politicians in the then Bendel state. He said he was not in Bendel and that it was these petitions he acted on.He said he cannot condone corruption at all.I now asked him that at 72 does he not think he is too old to govern Nigeria? He said the President does govern alone. He gives direction and allow his team to do the running around. That if he becomes the President he is going to involve many youths in decision making.I said he likes my questions. That gave me more confidence.I asked him people feel that if he becomes President, people like Tinubu will dictate what he will do.He smiled and ask if i was a journalists.i answered in the negative.I told him i am a lecturer in Auchipoly. He smiled again and told me how can a 72yrs old man be pushed around by anybody. Moreover he was a president before. He said that is not possible. At this time his friend cuts him and ask if i can dictate for him.i answered No.He brought my discussion abruptly to an end.GMB requested that i should give him my CV which i did.As we were leaving his house he gave me his card and requested me to call him the following day. As we were about to enter the car to drive away I heard My neighbours voice doing morning devotion. Wow!this is a dream!!!!!! I was happy all the same that i had an plesant encounter with GMB eve though it was in a dream. My problem now is that should i look for pastors to help me pray for my dream to come true???
