A CLOSER WALK WITH GOD (Please share with someone!) “The road to life is through straight gate (narrow way).” (Matthew 7:13) God’s will for your life is broken down in His plan for your life. No mortal knows the plan the Lord has for him except God Himself. God reveals this plan to everyone that seeks Him in earnest. (Jeremiah 29:11-13; Psalm 25:12) God only reveals his plan and purpose to those who walk in reverence with Him. Psalm 25:12 says “What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall He teach in the way that he shall choose.” Some people believe they know what they are here for apart from God revealing to man through the pages of His Word – the Scriptures. The best guess of man apart from God’s revelation to Him is dangerous and fatal. Consider this in Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Nothing saves man from destruction and vanity like developing a closer walk with God daily. Jesus walked on this earth accurately not because he was God. Note that although Jesus was in every nature God, yet when he left heaven and came into this world through biological birth, he found his way in every task and assignment from his Father through a close walk in daily and continuous communion. His utterance reveals that all through his time on earth, he walked like a man (Hebrews 2:14-15). If he had walked down here as God, he would not have maintained a stand such as in John 5:19-21 vs 30 where he said “...The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do; for whatsoever things He (the Father) does, these also does the Son likewise...I can of myself do nothing; as I hear, I judge...” If Jesus walked this way, and He is our perfect example, then we must walk that way too, if our time on earth is to be what God had planned for us to live. You must keep developing yourself so that you can grow into walking closer with God. Wishing to walk close with God does not help you realize this desire. To walk close with God will place a demand upon you in these areas of involvement: - You set aside time and place with Him daily in studying His Word. - Continuous meditation on His Word and the promises He has made to you. Meditation includes deep thoughts, deep reflections on what God is speaking to you about. Joshua 1:8; Psalm 5:1-3 - Set aside times of uninterrupted prayer and supplication, seeking His face to lead you, guide you, and for you to yield the whole of your life to Him and His course. Daniel 9:3, Jeremiah 29:13, Psalm 104:34 - Have time to read good books educative, instructive, directive, biographical and documentary. You will find encouragement, hope, lessons to draw from others that will save you from going through the same mistakes others have gone through, giving you precious lessons to draw from. Daniel 9:2 - God reveals to you secrets none can show you on how you can walk on this earth in success and in victory. You also have the privilege of growing in spiritual and mental maturity beyond the normal way others are trying to keep the pace (Psalm 119:97-101). - You may have questions that no one may give you answers to. It is a good time for you to ask God those questions so that He reveals to you His mind. King David was one man that knew the secret of making inquiry from God before he ever stepped out on any task. He recorded outstanding results because whatever it took for him to receive answer from the Lord, he always chose to wait than guessing his way. In your area of calling, ask God questions and He will respond to you. Jeremiah 33:3 reveals to us that God is willing to answer us and to show us great and mighty things we do not know. Note that God’s plan for your life includes you sharing the gifts and the abilities in you with others, so that you can become a blessing to them. When God called Abraham, He declared to him that in him – Abraham, all the families of the earth shall be blessed! (Genesis 12:1-3) You are a gift to your world through the deposits of all God put in you from creation. You may be growing increasingly dissatisfied with your life simply because what God put in you is lying dormant, and lacks expression. The secret of your happiness and fulfilment in life, is tied to your God-given purpose in life. What will attract reward at the end of your life is whether or not you did the will of God with your life. (Matthew 7:21-23) The will of God is his plan for your life, and his plan for you is his purpose for you and purpose is simply your assignment on earth. (Eccl. 12:13) You were born for your God-given purpose on earth. (Isaiah 41:7 & 21) Consider a brand new car you buy, but you never get to use it. You keep on walking on foot, or you keep boarding taxis, and that new car remains in your garage for years. That car is denied its purpose. No matter how beautiful that car is, no matter how powerful the engine is, the true beauty and glory of that car is the gratification you are meant to derive from its usage, and not from its being kept unused. Your God-given dream is the vehicle that conveys to your ‘world’ the purpose and assignment God made you for. You were born for your assignment/purpose. LESSONS - Your gifts and skills are gold - You are the vehicle through which the gold is being acquired. - You are the custodian/steward of the gold. - You can either turn your stewardship into gains and rewards, or you may keep them as loss and you remain unrewarded or rewarded negatively. (Matt.25:14-26) It is not enough to know you have gold in you, but you must release it out of you to people, so that they would be blessed. You will always profit from the gains of blessing those your gifts are meant to bless. For example, my ‘gold’ are the gifts and skills God the Creator put inside of me in form of wisdom and words I am putting down into writing/messages, words of encouragements that brings hope and life to people who have lost hope in life. This turns into a blessing in the lives of those that receive the words of God’s message through me. What I must do to profit from the gold I have is to keep on putting it to work as precious seeds being sown into those that receive, so that their lives too would turn into a blessing to others, hence creating a multiplier effect to our God. This is a way to a greater harvest. You must understand that the Word of God says in Proverbs 18:16 “A man’s gift makes way for him, and it brings him into the presence of the great.” It works every time it is put to work. It is only but a question of time. God has set this law into motion and it will always come to pass when it is put to work. I want you to know that the gifts God called you to be a custodian to, are priceless, and precious; and they are inevitably needed by people they were meant for. Your gifts are meant for a segment of the teeming population on earth in your generation. There is great tragedy for you to not manifest through the gifting God put in you. By not putting to work all that God put into you, you deprive those you were meant to make their lives complete, fulfilled and satisfied, and at the same time, you deprive yourself of your God-given purpose that was meant to make you complete, fulfilled and satisfied in life too. Where you are now, the gift may not be appreciated and you may wrongly assume that your gift is insignificant. No! It may need to be conveyed to the people to whom the gift is meant for by God. For example, although Joseph the son of Jacob was not appreciated and taken seriously by his family members, it never diminished the fact that the gifts of dreams/interpretation God had put into him were of great value. The gifts never lost their value because ‘somebody’ looked down on the gifts and the custodian of the gifts. Anything that originates with God is priceless and of eternal value. Note that anything that originates with God never and cannot lose its value no matter who is the carrier and the custodian of it. NIOTEWORTHY! You are of priceless value from our God to your world. See yourself as God sees you. Act like you know you are priceless. Be significant to your world, yet remain humble and let God do the lifting in your life. Jesus is Lord!
